As part of Copenhagen’s urban redevelopment, new housing estates continue to emerge and you often pass through areas of demolition. Buildings disappear almost unnoticed, the past is removed and new structures are established. In this interval where buildings are replaced by rubble, dust, open spaces, rebars, concrete, mud and traces from machines and workers, you can experience temporary uncontrolled structures. The landscape carries a sense of nudity and corporeality, as if what was once inwards and hidden suddenly are revealed to the public. One can consider the process of demolition as an important stage for reflection in the transition.”
In the exhibition “A Tribute To The Time Between” Kristine Hymøller creates an installation that functions as a ritual and mediator between the demolition of historic buildings and the construction of new beautifying architecture. Reinforcement bars and concrete are placed in the exhibition room alongside concrete bowls containing various colors of cosmetics, including different shades of foundation and eyeshadow. Through performative exploration, bodies will merge together with cosmetics and the solid remains of architecture. During the opening of the exhibition the installation were activated by the performance artist, Noelia Mora Solvez. The performace was filmed and shown on the monitor as part of the exhibition. The performance was ritual, a ceremonial makeup performance, where a “cosmetologist ” applied “body decoration” on her own body and the surrounding. This created a new composition in which the two universes, body and space were united as an in depth exploration and as an “makeup pallette”.
During the opening of the exhibition the installation were activated by the performance artist, Noelia Mora solvez. Performance, duration: 15min.

”A Tribute To The Time Between” 2018 @ C4Projects, Copenhagen. Dk. Udstillingen tager udgangspunkt i måden vi behandler og tager stilling til bygningers og byrums forfald og hvordan fornyelsen bliver koblet til menneskets behov for at forskønne og retouchere by og identitet. Hymøller undersøger de visuelle og socialpsykologiske værdier og menneskets indre og ydre fremtidsforestillinger om livsstil, som skabes i byfornyelsesprojekter. Hvordan vi som mennesker spejler og identificerer os med vores omgivelser og hvordan vores omgivelser er med til at skabe et ideal for vores ydre fremtoning.
Som en del af Københavns byfornyelse dukker stadig flere lejlighedskomplekser op og man passerer ofte områder præget af nedrivning. Bygninger forsvinder næsten ubemærket. Fortiden fjernes og nye formationer opstår. I dette mellemrum, hvor bygninger erstattes af murbrokker, støv, åbne vidder, armeringsjern, beton, mudder og aftryk fra maskiner og arbejdere kan man opleve midlertidige ukontrollerede strukturerer, hvor landskabet får et nøgent, legemligt udtryk, som om vrangen eller indersiden af det der var før, pludselig bliver afsløret. Man kan betragte nedrivnings- processen som et vigtigt stadie for refleksion i omstillingen til det nye.
I udstillingsrummet placeres armeringsjern og beton. Materialerne kommer direkte fra AGS Nordic, som er en nedrivning- og genbrugsstation for byggematerialer og materialerne vil på denne måde få en “pause” eller et “mellemrum” inden de igen bliver leveret tilbage til genbrugsstationen. På åbningsdagen var installationen aktiveret af performancekunstner, Noelia Mora Solvez. Sideløbende var performace ritualet filmet og vist på monitor som en del af udstillingen. Dette ritual foregik som en en ceremoniel makeup performance, hvor en “kosmetolog”sminker og påførte sig selv og omgivelser “krops-dekoration”. På den måde opstår der et nyt billedplan hvori de to universer, krop og rum indgik, som nærstudie og som en “makeup pallette”.
